“Wicked for Good” had an unexpected ending with many fans hooked on the edge of their seats. Leaving off from the first movie of Wicked, viewers have seen Elphaba meet the Wizard with an unexpected plot twist. Therefore she has left the Emerald City with the Grimmerie ending with a cliffhanger. We had more of Elphaba’s perspective in part one and shifted the spotlight to Glinda’s point of view in part two.
In the first part of “Wicked,” Elphaba and Glinda are rivals to best friends at Shiz University. Elphaba’s world changes when she uncovers a secret from her teacher, Dr. Dillamond, who has become a target to silence all animals in Oz. Elphaba’s desperate attempts to seek justice leads her to go to the Emerald City to meet the Wizard, only to discover that he was the one responsible for the subjection. Refusing to help him, the Wizard and Madam Morrible frame her as the “Wicked Witch” turning the public against her. Glinda, wanting acceptance from the people, chooses to be by the Wizard’s side despite being Elphaba’s friend.
“Wicked for Good” leaves off exactly on the Defying Gravity scene that fans adore. Released on November 21, 2025, fans were overjoyed and rushed to theaters to watch it first hand. Glinda is now known as a public figure “Glinda the Good,” and Elphaba is perceived as the “Wicked Witch of the West.” Elphaba becomes stronger and certain about what she is fighting for while Glinda is in the constant pressure of being a positive leader for the people of Oz. They both must make a choice for what’s best for the people and for themselves.
Will Elphaba be able to defeat the Wizard and regain justice, or will she be the one who quells?
Only watching “Wicked: For Good” will tell.
