Spring is just around the corner, and with it, the baseball season is coming!
As we all know, the baseball season is about to begin, and baseball workouts have already started. But this season, we have new baseball coaches. I’m excited to introduce you to one of the new coaches: Jeremy Cohen.
Coach Cohen is the assistant coach for the baseball varsity team. I asked him what made him decide to coach for Mills baseball and he replied, “I’ve been coaching baseball for 40 years, and I love baseball, and they needed some help here at Mills so I was more than willing to do it.”
Cohen’s goals for this season are to get to know the players, help make them the best they can be, and have fun teaching the players. He also hopes that the players can teach him something new as well. I also asked Cohen how confident he is about the season, and he said, “It’s really hard to say at this point because I haven’t even met the whole team, just a few players, so it’s a little early to know everything about that.”
Cohen also added some interesting facts about his coaching experience: “Through my 40 years coaching baseball, I’ve been in different places, such as the state of Washington, East Bay, Oakland [and] Berkeley. It is just a very long list over the years and it’s hard for me to name everything.”
Adding to this, I asked him what he enjoys the most about coaching baseball, and Cohen said, “Baseball is my favorite sport in the world, and it’s what I know best … I’ve been a part of it in some aspects, and it has been a good part of my life.”
