Are you sick and tired of the same lunches at school? Look no further: Mills High School is now adding a premium lunch pass. With this new system, you can get to those lunch carts faster and cut to the front of the line. You will be given a lanyard pass to leave your class early to get your food. Plus, Mills will be adding a new premium lunch area that is just for people who have this pass. Students who choose to participate will enjoy better quality food at a great price of $19.99 per month. This is a great deal for Mills students who are looking for more new and exciting options at our school.
Raquel Soto, a sophomore, eats school lunch every day. She says that lunch is adequate if you are hungry, but it’s not really enjoyable, as the same options are provided every day and can get a bit boring. Soto is interested in a more varied school lunch, rather than the current just-to-fill-you-up food; she wants to fully enjoy her food. This policy is great for her, as she will be able to get better quality food, and she will feel more fulfilled before her next class.
If you still don’t believe me on this policy, even our very own student workers are excited about it. Fiona Guo, a junior who has been working at the lunch carts since the beginning of her sophomore year, is excited about this new policy being instated. She says that nothing comes out of her own bank account for buying the new supplies to cook with and, in quote, says that “I get paid more for basically doing like, Papa’s Pizzeria.” Guo is excited that students will be able to have new things to eat and that it will be exciting to cook new items as well, even if she will have to work harder and cook more food, such as bluefin tuna sushi, lobster rolls, caviar bikinis, and truffle carbonara. Students also can’t miss out on the premium desserts like crème brûlée, macarons, tiramisu, and Dubai chocolate! For those who aren’t paying for this policy, you are missing out on too much.

If you think this pass is expensive, well, do not fret, as the price for your first month will be 50% off. If you are currently a freshman, sophomore or junior, you will be allowed to sign up after spring break for this lunch pass. If you are one of the first ten in the school to sign up, you will be able to get a discount for the two months rather than just one!
Though this year’s seniors may not be able to enjoy this new pass, next year’s will be. Current junior Kaylee Wong is also highly anticipating the pass, saying, “I’m really excited. I think that this will be revolutionary.” However, she does have some critiques. She thinks it should be on a rotating basis and that multiple people can try it out, and not just the same people all the time. This would be good to add to the new policy, and hopefully, the school district will choose to incorporate it.
Overall, this policy is a great addition to our school. Many students will be more inclined to eat school lunch, and the school is able to make money from this as well for new advancements. Go buy your passes on April 6th. I hope to see you all there!
